If you’re like me and care deeply about the view from an airplane window, then choosing the right seat can be the difference between a regular flight and a spectacular one. Especially when you’re flying a route as scenic as Delhi to Haneda, Tokyo with the majestic Mount Fuji potentially making an appearance.
Delhi to Haneda, Tokyo Flight
When you’re flying from Delhi to Haneda, Mount Fuji appears on the A-side of the aircraft- that’s the left side window seats. And yes, I mean the Mount Fuji — snow-covered, iconic, and absolutely breathtaking, especially when bathed in the golden light of early morning.
On my recent flight from Delhi to Haneda Tokyo, we were lucky. As the sun began to rise, there it was, Mount Fuji in all its glory, with a pristine snowcap and a dreamy, almost surreal aura. It was one of those moments you wish you could freeze in time. I was flying with my sister Alka and she was on the window seat. I know I rarely do it but this time I made an exception. It was her birthday trip and she got the window seat.

On the return flight from Haneda to Delhi, it’s the K-side of the plane or the right side window seats offer the view. But, as with all things in nature, visibility depends entirely on the weather. During my return trip, I was so exhausted I dozed off without having any intention of doing so. I woke up much later in the flight. Unfortunately, even if I had been wide awake, the view wasn’t there. Clouds had covered everything during the takeoff. My sister, sitting on the window seat ahead of me, confirmed it later.
So, if spotting Mount Fuji from above is on your wish-list, here’s what to remember: Delhi to Haneda: Choose a window seat on the A-side (left). On the flight from Haneda to Delhi choose a window seat on the K-side (right). The view is dependent on the weather, of course!
