Osmica (Eight) is tradition of selling wine without taxes at winery for a period of 8 days (named after that). Place would be marky with ivy branch (fraska). It goes back to Charlemagne time over Austrio-hungarian rule (decree 1784). Today this tradition is manly kept in western Slovenain regions (Primorska, Istra and Kras) and border places in Italy where farmers selll what they produce (beside wine, schnaps, home made bread, some simple meals, cold cuts, sausage, sweets). Now they organize it in spring and autumn for 10 days.

Pr’ Lahu (Mladovan farm since mid 19th century) we visited after trip to Nova Gorica. We were eight people, we sat there for few hours eating from cold cut starters to some simple meals like jota and polenta, dessert (štruklji). White and red wines were on table as well. Interesting is local soda, Pašareta. When we were leaving we got homemade schanps for digestive. All together was 110€. Cheap and taasty option if you are in this area at time of Osmica.
