La Purisima Ecuadorian Restaurant
A superb restaurant, serving original recipes of Ecuadorian food with their own special touch. This lovely hidden gem is Tripadvisor Rated at #24 of 1304 restaurants in Quito at the time of our visit, and for very good reason.
La Purisima Ecuadorian Restaurant – Location
Located in the {Historic Old Town} district, La Purisima is ideally located for those visitors staying in this part of the city.
The restaurant is on a quiet street, where you will find; residences, shopping, hotel accommodations and more.
It is also within easy walking distance from {San Francisco Square}, the main historical plaza in the Old Town.
La Purisima Ecuadorian Restaurant – Menu
Their detailed {The Purist} menu, has a wide variety of unique Ecuadorian main course dishes to choose from.
There’s also a nice selection of; light appetizers, soups, salads and dessert options.
On our visit, we chose to eat light and enjoy a few appetizers along with dessert and coffee. We also enjoy light appetizers, giving us an opportunity to sample more of the restaurant’s options.

Below, is a look at what we enjoyed on our visit with our Quito Turismo guide on our visit. As our visit was in December, there was a special Christmas menu for the occasion.
Appetizers
Quinua Tabouleh Salad
A lovely starter with; quinoa, cucumber, rocoto chili, paico leaves, bell pepper, radish, tomatoes, onions and garlic sauce.
Mashed plantain “bolon” with peanuts shrimps
Crispy plantain “Bolon” with pork rinds and covered shrimps in peanut sauce.
Dessert
Good Thursday black tart
The oldest recipe of Ecuadorian cuisine with 25 ingredients.
Served with ice cream and rose’s infused sugar cane syrup.
Buche de Noel with allspice custard
Vanilla’s buche de noel with cranberries, walnuts and candied cocoa beans, with allspice custard.
All our selections were delicious and beautifully presented.
Tasting Room of Las Perlas de la Virgent
After our dinner, we were invited into the restaurant’s special Tasting Room of {Las Perlas de la Virgent}. Our host invited us to sample some of their fine true Ecuadorian spirits.
A wonderful way to end our delightful evening at this popular Quito restaurant.
