The day before the concert, I happen to find out that Almira Medunjanin will perform as part of the Arsana festival in Ptuj. I expected a busy day the next day and it was also a day of sad anniversary, ideal for sevdah. I paid €22 for a ticket with some NLB discount. The next day after work, I ate something at home, made a few calls and left home around 6pm just in case something happens on the road, in between I filled up on fuel at a gas station. I found parking, which was free in the afternoon. I had enough time for a short walk around the city before I headed to the Minorite Monastery. The atrium was full, there was free seating, Radenska was 2.5€.
Shortly after 8:30 PM, Amira Medunjanin (vocals), Mario Rašić (bass), Zoran Majstorović (guitar), Leopold Stašić (violin) took the stage. Amira was simple in her performance and appearance, but still graceful, the instrumental part of the quartet took time for their solos. She communicated with the audience in a relaxed manner and the audience returns the favor, a couple came under the stage to dance, her friend Irena joined her on stage, … She performed a couple of songs from the new album Homeland, Alma sticks out in my memory. Of course, there were also classics such as Žute dunje/Voljelo se dvoje mladih, as well as songs from other countries, such as Vranjanka or a cover of the rock song Ako znaš bilo što (Azra). Her vocal abilities were best demonstrated in the song Što te nema.
Despite the standing ovation, they only bow for an encore, without any additional songs. It was probably necessary to end because of the organizer. After two hours, it was all over and I headed to the car and drove home, where I arrived at midnight. A good musical evening, but a 3-hour drive was just too much.
