Causes Of Seasonal Allergies

It wasn’t until my senior years, did I start feeling the real effects of Allergies. I’ve had many friends and family members that have suffered for years, with mild to severe symptoms.
All of them in various ways, from; sneezing, stuffiness, watery eyes, to outright difficulty breathing!
For me, it started with; sinus congestion and inner ear congestion and itchiness. I went to an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist and he said that on his end, everything was fine.
“It Must Be Allergies”
Here’s a brief look at the different ways and times of year allergies may appear.
Spring

For most, Springtime is welcomed, as it is the end of winter and summer just around the corner. This is when things begin to blossom.
Unfortunately however, it is also the start of allergy season for so many, including me!
This is when tree pollen is very small and light. It can easily be spread by the wind. For many people, they will start to feel symptoms from around; mid-March to mid-June.
Summer

The hot, dry days of summer can definitely make allergy symptoms worse.
Did you know that grass is the main cause?
This is when those people who love to play golf and other activities on grass, will get hit hard!
Fall & Winter

As the leaves begin to change color and the air becomes cooler, the main allergy trigger is; Weed Pollen. Ragweed, is the main culprit.
During the winter, people can also suffer from indoor airborne {mold spores}.
Allergies vs Hay Fever

Mayo Clinic:
“Hay fever, also called allergic rhinitis, causes cold-like symptoms. These may include a runny nose, itchy eyes, congestion, sneezing and sinus pressure. But unlike a cold, hay fever isn’t caused by a virus. Hay fever is caused by an allergic response to a harmless outdoor or indoor substance the body identifies as harmful (allergen).”
Seasonal allergic rhinitis is also referred to as … “Hay Fever.”
Here on the west coast of Canada, there was just a local news report & clip stating that:
“Allergy season is expected to be especially bad in B.C. this year. Experts say shorter winters and longer spring and summer seasons mean trees and plants have more time to flower.”
